Research on websites

 Todays task was to research fashion websites and reviewing them to use them as examples for my website.

The first website i searched was Jimmy Choo:

My first comment is that it has a major drawback when first clicking on the website that makes you want to leave the page. There are too many pop ups such as sign up pop up and cookies pop up and a chat box.

Nevertheless it is well executed as it gives off a clean and luxurious feeling. Also i enjoyed the fact that it is distributed into sections of "sole mates" and has an inside joke to it making it playful and fun.

I appreciated the fact that they make you feel special by giving the option of booking an appointment hence such a major brand spending time on you makes you feel unique and motivates you to buy products.

Also the online appointment is very convenient as due to covid-19 it is dangerous to go out often and also if there is not a jimmy choo store in your area or country you can still buy.

The in my choos section helps you see the products in the real world and how they can actually be styled and worn which motivates you into buying jimmy choos even more. Also the fact that they have a bridal store in the online store is convenient and really makes a bride feel even more special on her special day.

Overall the website was really well executed and was easy to use making each section clear.

The second website was Versace:

Entering the versace website transforms you into the world of the video they have displayed there which is a really nice touch as it elevates the digital work put in the website. The only drawback the website has is that it still has cookies pop up when you first enter but this is something i generally dislike which is something all websites have.

I also liked the fact that they have the world of versace section which has themed stories and then has each section versace offers such as atelier, sunglasses etc into sections.

I also liked the execution of the website in  general but also that they have the sign up form at the bottom of the home page instead of it as a pop up and have all of the social links together alonside valuable information.

Vogue was the other website:

Vogue along the others had cookies when first entering the website.

The fact that it has top stories with empowering pictures and true updates is motivational and gives off hope to people with the things happening in the world at the moment.

I also liked the fact that the website can adjust depending on your country which you can select on the top right hand corner. Also it gives you aa choice of subscribing or not as it still did not open a pop up for subscription. Also the 3 lines at the right of the page open the window i have displayed below. It divides the website into sections of fashion, beauty, arts&lifestyle, runway, news and video.

When clicking on runway it has a list of all the well known designers and also the 2021 ready to wear spring collections offered. 

But then the subscription pop up came up but had a polite no thanks to it which was a kind gesture.

  

  Then there was a pop up again with a tote which is a collective tote when you sign up for 12 dollars which creates a reason for one to subscribe especially when you are a collector. But then again the option of subscribing for a year was there indicating that a gift would be given out again which is again a reason to subscribe especially after you read the paragraphs of content and enjoyed it.

Additionally Vogue has very good marketing skills on its website not only for the brands but for itself too.

Also when you click on a brand like i did on top for Acne studios it talks about the story of the brand but also what materials and techniques are being used and also it gives you all the shows the brand has done alongside detailed pictures with descriptions. Also it offers the brands social media accounts on the left hand side.
