Class development exercise

 Todays class exercise for out set project was to choose one of the three methods offered and i chose method one which was the meditative approach. The idea was to close our eyes for 5 to 10 minutes and think of our initial idea and brainstorm through them like a cinema.

Closing my eyes i visualised the earth. My initial idea about the earth and the way in which i would connect it with my set project was that i would create 6 different outfits based on one problem. Thinking even deeper i visualised a chain of problems that leads to one another. This made me think that i could connect each 2D digital sketch together with a chain to give off a stronger meaning. The problems which i though of were pollution as i visualised all the plastics found in the ocean which connects to the problems with the ozone layer which connects with the melting of glaciers that cause tsunamis to happen which connect to wildfires which connect to deforestation which connect to the assassination of animals for their leather or horns. I think these are major issues as they are also caused by the fashion industry. This is due to fast production and easy waste disposal of the industry.  I imagined all the issues which are a problem at the moment and the industry of fashion contributes to this problem. The outfits themselves can be a way of speaking about the matters which are often ignored as the problems can be handled at the moment up to an extent but also portray the issues brought up by the making of the specific goods. I also visualised a normal forest and then the dead forest and i thought more of the side effects of the dead forest which are having less oxygen and more CO2, the loss of habitat for animals and the loss of natural beauty. The thought is also to make the collection from sustainable products or recycled fabrics. Additionally in order for the clothes to be wearable and fashionable hence i will be using the colour palettes of these major problems to create new up to date clothes which are sustainable.
