Set project:Look 1/ Papieros
This look is about the first stage of a fire. One of the most common causes of wildfires is cigarettes hence the name of the look 'Papieros' which means cigarette in polish. The materials which i will be using in this collection is organic cotton for the dress as i want it to be stretchy, Organic Bamboo Linen for the oversized boyfriend jacket, Pinatex for the faux leather bag and shoes and for the sole rubber from algae.
The process in which i will be digitalising this look is to first scan the sketch, after sketching it on a maquette with a felt ink pen and then using photopea.
The colour palette will be as follows:
The reason in which i chose this colour palette is because they remind me of the colours of a cigarette which is the name of the look but also are very earthy.
The colours as indicated are similar but i decided to manipulate the hues a bit more. The inspiration for the dress came to me by looking at a wood trunk. This was the reason for outside stitching. I chose this element as i wanted to portray in depth the effect that the cigarette will have which in other words "attacking" the trunk. The trunk is the body of the tree hence i decided to make a dress to indicate the main body of humans as well as by burning the body, which is the tree we burn ourselves too indirectly as for every tree lost our oxygen supply decreases and without oxygen we cannot survive. In addition to the aforementioned it can also be seen as the main body of the cigarette which also impacts the lungs as it is where the tobacco is placed and when smoked goes to our lungs and by time can cause serious health issues.
Additionally i wanted to do a midi bodycon dress in order to fit the body perfectly and act like the "veins" in a sense of the tree just like human veins which are all over the body.
For the Oversized boyfriend jacket i was inspired by the trends coming up in spring/summer 2021 which include oversized boyfriend jackets. I chose this creamy/white colour as it is the same as a cigarette paper colour.
The shoe heel inspiration again came from the cylinder shape of a cigarette and the colour from the ash.
The bag inspiration came from the tiny bag trend which is still trending.
Overall i enjoyed this look and the process of the digital design will be up soon.
Good work on this and how you got to it - well developed work
