Set Project: Trends Spring/Summer 2021
Due to the fact that this project's theme is Ultimate Black our selection of trends has to be narrowed. According to my previous set project posts about the trends of Spring/Summer 2021 most trends were based on colours. The trends in which I showed interest for this Set Project are Slinky Black dresses (this aids our research as our theme is black) and Minimalistic clothing. I will also research some more trends below along with the aforementioned just to be sure that we have covered the trends completely.
The first trend I looked at which most probably I will include in an outfit are oversized boyfriend jackets. I believe this is a must in this collection as during the summertime, especially in the night (casual night wear) there may be unpredictable breezes. Having an oversized jacket not only gives off the illusion of a snatched waist and long legs but also gives a unique essence to the outfit. Now, speaking graphic design wise this is ideal as it has space for graphics and will give even more style to the outfit. What I am visualising with this piece is a mid maxi slinky black dress with this jacket on top and graphics at the back.
Cut outs will also be trending this Summer. I am a major fan of this trend as I believe that they give off a sexy essence without being too revealing but also show parts of your body that would normally not be shown. I believe that I will incorporate this in my collection.
Feathers will also be back this season but I am not sure I will incorporate them in this collection even if they could represent angel wings as they are not really my cup of tea.Lastly Sheer will be in this season. I love Sheer clothing especially Black sheer as I believe it creates a sexy effect and also hides any skin allergies one may have in a simple way. Also it makes one look more slim than normal as it gives off an illusion.
Overall I am in love with these trends, they are honestly my favourite trends so far and I am excited to incorporate as many as I can in the five designs of this night casual collection.
These trends are really exciting, and your commentary is a good complement to them - I think the oversize jacket fits well into this project as you stated at the start of this post. Working in tandem with the trend for sheer means you can combine and contrast the two, perhaps having the graphics run into both garments.
